UNION – Erica L. Hawes, 45, passed away Sunday, May 20, 2018 following a long illness.

Born August 31, 1972 in Blue Hill, she was the daughter of Richard and Jane Farmer. Erica grew up in Rockland, and graduated Rockland District High School as a member of the Class of 1991. She later married her husband, Craig A. Hawes, with whom she spent 26 loving years. In 1994, Erica's mother Jane lost her life to the same kidney disease that would later affect her daughter. From that day on, Erica's dad became her rock, he was always there for her whenever she needed him.

Later in life, Craig and Erica were blessed with three children – their two loving daughters, Ashley A. Hawes, and Olivia M. Hawes, followed to her surprise by her final child, Justin A. Hawes – her little boy. Her brother Richard Farmer Jr., whom she loved dearly, predeceased her in 1998.

A short time after the birth of her children, Erica was diagnosed with kidney failure. She did everything she could to find a donor, but it wasn't until 2006 that an angel came into her life and changed it forever. Jennifer McNevin's gift granted Erica the ability to spend twelve more tough but happy years with her children and husband.

She was a strong, beautiful woman, and spent that time being a grandmother to her only grandson, Jonah Remillard.

Erica Hawes was an amazing wife, daughter, mother, and grandmother. She loved everyone in her life with all her heart. Erica looked forward to her daily chats with her best friend, Amy Keating. She always helped anyone in need, even dedicating her life to it for years. She will be severely missed by many people, and we will love you forever and always.

Friends and family are invited to visit from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland. A celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 31, 2018 at the Lakeview Presbyterian Church, 188 Rockland, Street, Rockport, with a reception to follow. Pastor Stephen Tracy will officiate.
