MONTVILLE — Elmin H. Mitchell, 86, passed away April 22, 2015, after a sevem-month battle with cancer. Born in Morrill on March 21, 1929, to Charles Mitchell and Bessie Walsh, Elmin was one of nine children.

He will be remembered as a truck driver, bobcat and coon hunter, and farmer as a young man. He was a grader operator for many years. He was also known for playing the saxophone with the Blue Goose Orchestra and with other groups. In the 1970s and 1980s he owned several airplanes and enjoyed flying. In his retirement he dedicated his time to old-fashioned farming with draft horses. His last work with horses was doing carriage rides at Wildwood Stable at Acadia for six summers. He was active in the Montville Historical Society and took part in the Frye Mountain Carriage Tours each fall.

He is survived by his wife, Edna, of 68 years; one son, Brian and his  wife, Gloria; their children, Delta Chase and her husband, Don, Kelly Stacey and her husband, James, and Mary Stacey and her husband, Brian; and three great-grandchildren, Jesse Stacey, Allison Gallant and Danny Cseak, V. He is also survived by his brother, Leon Mitchell; and his sister, Joyce Gregoire.

Services will be held May 1 at 7 p.m. at Liberty Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Steve Daniels.
