MONTVILLE — Elizabeth Ilgenfritz, 65, of Montville, passed away unexpectedly on Oct. 27, 2016, in Portland. Elizabeth was born in Iowa City, Iowa, on Jan. 16, 1951, to Richard and Betty (Doyle) Ilgenfritz.

She graduated from Sarah Lawrence College in New York and became a writer and copy editor.

She married the love of her life, David Jacobson, and the couple eventually settled in Montville. Elizabeth was a prolific reader, great cook and talented gardener. She was published in non-fiction, and was currently writing a young adult novel. Elizabeth was a member of the Maine Writer's and Publisher's Alliance. But by far, she will be remembered and missed for being a loving sister, aunt, wife and friend. Her compassion and caring helped to keep her family close, even living far apart.

Elizabeth was predeceased by her parents. She leaves behind her loving husband, David; her sisters, Jane Hart and her husband, Tim, of Iowa, and Molly McDaniel and her husband, Mack, of North Carolina; her brother-in-law, Marc Jacobson and his wife, Martha Colbert, of Colorado; her nieces and nephews, Casey, Katy, Elizabeth and Jordana, Ben and Hannah; her golden retriever, Willie; and numerous friends, all of whom will miss her smile and kind soul immensely.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 5, at 1 p.m. at Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Ave. in Belfast.

Those who miss may make contributions in her memory to coastalstudiesforgirls.org.
