Down East Magazine hosts Food Truck Fridays at historic Rockport building

ROCKPORT – On June 30, Down East magazine hosts its first Food Truck Friday event. Food Truck Fridays is a four part summer series June 30, July 14, July 28 and August 11 at the historic Down East Magazine office  at 680 Commercial Street, Rockport along Route 1.   

There will be 8-10 food trucks each Friday open from noon to 7 p.m. from all over Maine. Food varies from lobster rolls, slow-smoked barbecue meats, gourmet s’mores, to locally sourced oysters. Live entertainment and cash bar starts at 4pm. Bands taking the stage will be Highland Green’s Off Their Rockers, Just Teachers and more to be announced. The bands will be playing for local charities and will be collecting donations on their behalf.  

Kathleen Fleury, the Editor-in Chief of Down East Magazine said: "We are so excited to open up our Rockport Headquarters to our readers and our community. There will be great food, great entertainment and great company — all in support of local non-profits. I can't wait!"

The event also includes a pop-up market of Maine-made gifts inside the store. Pop-up market will be open 10-5 Monday through Friday and 10-4 Saturdays, June 26 through August 11.  

The artwork and crafts curator for the pop-up market, Betsy French said: “I am so excited about our Maine-made pop-up market opening up at our Down East building in Rockport this summer. We have a great lineup of artisans from around the state of Maine being featured. We are thrilled to share their products and their stories. Each one is unique and truly a work of art.”

Food Truck Fridays is family friendly and open to the public. Guests are invited to take lawn chairs. Blankets will be available to picnic on. Lawn games will be spread around the Down East grounds. Donations will be collected for the band’s chosen charity.
