CAMDEN — Dorothy Keller Hibbert, 93, died Feb. 5, 2017, at Windward Gardens in Camden after several months of declining health. Born in Rockland on May 20, 1923, she was the daughter of Jenness and Elizabeth (Gushee) Keller.

Growing up in Lincolnville Beach, she worked as a waitress at the Lobster Pound Restaurant. A 1941 graduate of Camden High School, she married Alvah Hibbert on Aug. 29, 1941, in Lincolnville.

Dot was employed at the Camden Woolen Mill for several years, before going to work at Hodgeman's Footwear in both Camden and Rockland. With her friendly outgoing personality, she cheerfully greeted and waited on many customers for 25 years.

She enjoyed playing golf, and looked forward to her weekly card games with her good friends, Louise Hastings, Marion Mank, Alice Boody, Esther Farmer, and Carolyn Small. Dot was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Camden.

Dot and Alvah spent many good times with friends at Moosehead Lake and also on Fang Island in Megunticook Lake.

In 1988, they moved to Englewood, Fla., where Dot managed a thrift shop for the local church. Alvah died in 1991, and in 2006, Dot moved back to Camden.

A devoted grandmother and great-grandmother, Dot never wanted to miss the activities and sporting events of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She lived life to the fullest and always enjoyed having a good time wherever she went.
