WARREN — Driving at a high rate of speed is being blamed for a crash that caused a 2001 Dodge pickup truck to roll several times on Oyster River Road in Warren yesterday.

Knox County Sheriff's Deputy John Hansen responded to the crash, which occurred around 9:45 in the morning.

The operator, Devin Meklin, 18, of Cushing, was driving the truck southbound on Oyster River Road (Route 131) and according to a witness, passed another vehicle at a high rate of speed and then lost control.

The truck then went off the left side of the road, struck a ditch and then flipped three times before coming to rest on the its roof.

Warren Fire and EMS responded, and Meklin was transported to Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport with non-life-threatening injuries.

Hansen issued summonses to Meklin for driving to endanger, improper passing and failure to use a seat belt.
