Craig L. Davis Sr., obituary

ROCKLAND — Craig L. Davis Sr., 63, passed away after a short illness April 19, 2013, at Maine Medical Center in Portland.

Born in Rockland Sept. 24, 1949, he was the son of Edward B. and Mary Ann Barter Davis. He attended area schools and was a graduate of Georges Valley High School.

He was a member of the Owls Head Baptist Church, where he dearly appreciated his church family.

He loved hunting, fishing and lobstering. Listening to Elvis, watching Elvis' movies, watching World Wrestling Entertainment with his youngest son, going with Eddie to Sea Dogs games and watching minor league baseball were all favorite pastimes for Craig. He also loved watching westerns featuring John Wayne and Matt Dillion, as well as Little House on the Prairie and Touched by an Angel. Craig put his heart and soul into his son, Eddie, and other children as well. He was very proud of all his children, many grandchildren and his great-grandchild.

Predeceased by his father, Craig is survived by his mother, Mary Davis of Port Clyde; his wife of 32 years, Yvonne of Rockland; five sons, Eddie B. Davis III of Rockland, Craig L. Davis Jr. of Brunswick, Ga., Scott M. Davis of Rockland, Christopher E. Davis of Warren and Michael L. Davis of Germany; his three daughters, Norma J. Pease and her husband, Edwin, of Union, Shelley L. Davis of Warren and Jaime A. Delano of Thomaston; Ashley Welsh of Massachusetts, whom he considered a daughter; two brothers, Melvin Davis of Tenants Harbor and Gary Davis of Port Clyde; two sisters, Rosemary Cushman and her husband, Dennis, of Port Clyde, and Linda Davis of Jefferson; 14 grandchildren, Jessica Land, Craig L. Davis III, Ryan M. Davis, Desirea A. York, Ashton C. Landers, Brittany E-J Alexander, Brooke N. Pease, Jonathan S. Pease, Caydan E. Davis, Dillon T. Davis, Osheanna Davis, Lana Davis, Chantel Whitney and Koral Davis; and one great-grandchild; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Craig's family expresses their sincere thanks for the prayers and support of his Owls Head Baptist Church family.

Friends and relatives are invited to visit Wednesday, April 24, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock St. in Rockland, where a funeral service will be held Thursday, April 25 at 11 a.m. The Rev. Paul Munro will officiate. Interment will follow in South Parish Cemetery in Martinsville.
