HOPE — Craig R. Knowlton, 31 of Hope, passed away unexpectedly on April 12, 2017, at the home of his mom, Margaret, and step-father, Stan, in Swanville.

Craig grew up in the Hope area, attending schools in Hope and graduating from Camden Hills Regional High School in 2004. Craig also attended a vocational school in Rockland, where he won a gold medal at a State of Maine competition, which qualified him for a Skills USA competition in Kansas City. There he won a bronze medal in motorcycle technology. Because of this Craig won a full scholarship to Ohio Technical College.

Craig worked as a mechanic in the Rockland area for several years, before going to work for Fisher Engineering.

Craig's joys in life were fishing, hunting and attending the races. He also enjoyed going to a concert with friends in Caven Rock, Ill. Craig was proud to have built a custom motorcycle using a Harley 2004 engine from one bike, a transmission from another and a custom frame. He did this with help from a friend, knowledge from years as a mechanic and training acquired in the past.

Craig is survived by his mom, Margaret Sarnacki and her husband, Stan, of Swanville; his grandmother, Doris Knowlton; a half-brother, Greg Knowlton; two step-sisters; several aunts, uncles, cousins, and one special great-uncle, Robert Flanders.

Craig was predeceased by his grandmother, Joyce Fogg; and one aunt and uncle on his mother's side. He also leaves behind close friends, with whom he spent many hours.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, May 10, at 2 p.m. at Achorn Cemetery in Rockland.

Those who wish to remember Craig in a special way can donate to an animal shelter of their choice.

Arrangements are in the care of Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home.
