CAMDEN — Reny's Plaza in Camden was the scene Thursday, August 31, in front of K2 Music owners Harvey Curtis and Mac Economy hosted their third annual Country Music Showcase.

"Better and brighter," was how Economy put it. "We have amazing talent once again and it covers all ages. We have a young lady who is 20 and I don't want to say who the oldest one here is, but they are well into their 70s."

"What we like about this is the variety of people," he said. "You get a wide variety of all traditional country music, a lot of volunteers, and a wide variety of people in the audience."

The concert was free, as in the past years.

"We love free," said Economy. "It's a chance to give back to the community. Most of these people know the performers in some capacity. It's an exciting time. We're always excited to see how many people show up and it looks like we already have more people then last year, so this is great."

Harvey Curtis said: "To see all these people show up and all the work behind from some great people as well. Some of these people showed up an hour and a half before the concert to get good seats."

Curtis said they have about the same number of performers every year. The next jam, though not outside, will be at the end of September.

"It certainly won't be to this level and we really haven't decided what it will be yet. We've had a lot of folks want to do ukulele, so we're leaning toward that, but we'll let you know in plenty of time."

Performers in order of Appearance were Russ Spera, Holly Clough, David Dodson, Gene Kirkpatrick, John Ruis, Dane Winslow, Linda Stevenson, Rosey and the Ramblers, Lee Dodge, Kim Moran, David Dean, Scott Harrison and Loring Proctor.

Fred Thompson (Steel Guitar), Phil Clement (Guitar), Gary Clancy (Bass Guitar) and Chris Fyfe (Keyboard), provided music for all the acts.
