WASHINGTON — The Gibbs Library is proud to present an exhibit of a selection of 18th and 19th century lithographs depicting events of the Revolutionary and Civil wars, from the collection of Washington resident Lennie Weiner, at the Gibbs Library. The collection will be on display from May 4 through July 3.

The exhibit includes two historical figures — George Washington and Israel Putnam — both of whom had a significant influence on the history of our town. At one time, the town of Washington was called Putnam, honoring this Revolutionary War hero. In 1825 the name of the town was changed to honor Washington.

The exhibit also includes books on the history of American printmaking, Currier and Ives and the Kellogg brothers of Connecticut.

    Gibbs Library hours are Monday, 4-7 p.m.; Tuesday, 9 a.m.-noon and 4-7 p.m.; Thursday 3-6 p.m.; Saturday 9a.m.-3 p.m; and Sunday 2-5 p.m.
