ROCKLAND — Charles A. "Chuck" Ball, 60, passed away Feb. 19, 2015, at the West Roxbury, Mass., Veterans Medical Center.

Born in Camden on March 4, 1954, he was the son of A. James and Shirley Dean Ball. Chuck grew up in Camden, where he graduated from Camden-Rockport High School, Class of 1972. After high school he joined the Army and was stationed in Korea, and stateside in Maryland, while serving with the military police.

On April 18, 1975, he married his wife of 39 years, Deborah Jakobsen Ball.

Chuck and Debbie briefly ran a taxi service in Rockland. Chuck worked as a plumber for Maine Coast Construction and Ron Thurston Plumbing. In later years, he worked as a carpenter for Maynard Tolman. He was also a call member of the Rockland Fire Department.

Chuck loved hunting and fishing. Moosehead Lake held many fond memories for Chuck and Debbie. They were frequently seen enjoying his motorcycle, until his disability didn't allow him to ride anymore.

In addition to his wife of Rockland, Chuck is survived by a son, Charles W. “Charlie” Ball and his wife, Kelly, of Thomaston; a daughter, Tina L. and her husband, Donald Simmons, of Lincolnville; his grandchildren, Dallas Ball, Alexander and Molly McLaughlin, Chelsee Ball, Christopher Winchenbach, and Donald, Joshua and Chianne Simmons; a brother, Thomas P. Ball and his wife, Violet, of North Whitefield; a sister, Ann B. Marriner and her husband, Clifton, of Lincolnville; his sisters-in-law, Linda Knight and her husband, Brad, of Lincolnville, and Kathy Flanders of Southwest Harbor; as well as several nieces and nephews. He leaves in the loving care of his wife, a very special spaniel named Cuddles.

A family gathering will be announced in the spring.
