Central Maine Power prestages 450 line crews, 250 tree crews ahead of storm

Wed, 04/03/2024 - 7:00pm

A slow-moving nor’easter is forecasted to bring strong winds and more than a foot of heavy, wet snow to the Central Maine Power service area beginning tonight. In anticipation of hazardous weather conditions, CMP are pre-staging more than 450 line crews and 250 tree crews across the service area this evening. It will also have additional customer service representatives standing by to assist customers starting Wednesday night.

If you experience an interruption in service, customers can report an outage quickly and easily, as well as track restoration times using the CMP Mobile App. You can also report an outage by visiting Outage Central, or by calling the Customer Contact Center at 800.696.1000.

Outage Alerts will keep you informed if you experience an outage. If we have a current cell phone number associated with your account, and you have not previously opted out, you will receive Outage Alerts automatically. You can choose how you want to receive them — by text messages, email, phone, or all three. And, you can choose to have additional people receive alerts for your location, like a spouse or a roommate. Managing your preferences is easy with My Account.

Customers may find storm preparation tips and a checklist on the CMP website. CMP remind customers to remember the following if they have lost power:

Stay away from downed lines. No line is safe to touch.
Turn off or unplug major appliances and sensitive electronics.
Never use ranges or outdoor stoves to heat your home.
If you need shelter or food, reach out to 211 for available resources.

    If you lose service:

For fast outage reporting, use CMP’s Mobile App or visit Outage Central.

Keep sensitive electronic appliances such as computers, TVs and stereos plugged into a surge protector, or unplug them. They could be damaged if a power surge occurs when electricity is restored.

Keep refrigerator and freezer doors closed. For information about food safety, visitFoodsafety.gov.
