Camden to talk about town manager search progress this evening in closed-door meeting

Wed, 05/24/2017 - 1:45pm

Since early February, Camden has been reviewing resumes and interviewing candidates for the town manager position. A search committee, comprising citizens, assisted with the initial search and then recommended candidates to the Select Board.

The Select Board then interviewed, and as of May 24, there have been no announcements.

The board will meet this evening at 5, however, in executive session in the Washington Street Meeting Room to talk about the town manager search.

Board member Don White said he did not anticipate any vote tonight, but expected to have an announcement on May 25 about the search.

On Jan. 26, the Select Board agreed to engage Maine Municipal Association representative David Barrett, about conducting a manager search.

Barrett is director of personnel services and labor relations  at the nonprofit MMA, which offers professional services to municipalities and other local governmental entities in Maine.

The Select Board voted Jan. 26 to contract with MMA for $4,900, plus expenses, to help find a new town manager.

The schedule then was to schedule interviews in early March, with an anticipated offer made to a candidate in April.
