CAMDEN — Hikers, snowshoe enthusiasts, and mountain bikers aiming to reach the Ragged Mountain summit now have the option of parking at the Camden Snow Bowl in order to make the trek.

Two new non downhill ski trails officially opened to the public Saturday, Oct. 15, courtesy of Camden Snow Bowl and Coastal Mountain Land Trust.

Both routes, Red Diamond trail and Hosmer Brook Trail, begin at the same location: halfway up the center ski trail and to the right of the lodge.

The Red Diamond Trail, accessible by hikers and bicyclists, veers off through forests and ski trails to the upper side of the triple chairlift before heading upwards to the Georges Highland Path intersect.

Hosmer Brook Trail extends a preexisting trail of the same name that originally took hikers in a loop referred to as a lollipop design. Now, those hikers and snowshoers have the option to continue upwards along the property line separating the ski resort from land owned by the town of Camden. This gradual climb through the forest stretches 1,000 feet to the summit.
