Camden, Rockport, Waldoboro officers graduate police academy

    VASSALBORO — The Maine Criminal Justice Academy in Vassalboro has graduated its most recent class of police officers, all of whom spent 18 weeks there in study and training. Among the 56 are three local to the Midcoast: Timothy Davis, a Camden officer, John Lash, a Waldoboro officer, and Kyle Sylvester, a former Rockport firefighter who is now with the Damariscotta Police Department.

    While at the academy, the officers studied crime scene processing, emergency vehicle operation, first aid, traffic and criminal law, domestic violence and sexual assault.

    Superior Court Justice William Stokes, who was a former deputy attorney general, gave the commencement address. 

    He told the class: “You bring the Constitution to life every day and you are the first step in implementing the Bill of Rights. Congratulations to committing yourselves to serve your communities.”
