ROCKPORT – The Camden Hills tennis teams took on the Lions of Belfast Thursday to open the 2015 regular season.
The Windjammer boys hosted the Lions at home while the Jammer’ girls made the trip up Route One to Belfast City Park, where the Camden Hills squad brought home a 4-1 win to start the season.
Boys Tennis
Camden Hills 5, Belfast 0
The Windjammer boys had very little trouble getting past the Lions Thursday as they opened the season at home where the wind was cut off by the trees surrounding the tennis courts at Camden Hills making for a pleasant opening day weather wise for both teams.
Here are the individual results with the Camden Hills boys listed first. Singles, Josiah Krul defeated Jordan Bickford (Belfast) 6-3, 6-4; Josiah Simko defeated. Alexander Lind (Belfast) 6-1, 6-0; and Jared Garske defeated Wendall Grotton (Belfast) 6-0, 6-0.

Girls Tennis
Camden Hills 4 Belfast 1
Camden Hills players played steady tennis at Belfast City Park on a cool afternoon to win their three singles matches against the hard working Belfast players. The No. 1 doubles match proved to be the most exciting match with the Camden Hills team of Frances Pendleton and Julia Holt, after being down 5-7, coming from behind to win 9-7 in the 8-game Pro Set format.
Here are the individual results of the matches with Camden Hills girls listed first; singles, Sophia Landry defeated Madison Pickering (Belfast) 8-2; Serene Landry defeated Hannah Green (Belfast) 8-0; and Kelsie Merrill defeated Lucie Bonneville (Belfast) 8-3.
In doubles, Frances Pendleton and Julia Holt defeated Catey McGinn and Rayanna Luther (Belfast) 9-7; and Adie McGrath-Sheehan and Hannah Holte lost to Emma Sturdevant and Hannah Lynam (Belfast) 4-8.
