CAMDEN —  Students from Camden Hills Regional High School participate in the CHRHS chapter of Liberian Education Fund (LEF). Liberian Education Fund (LEF) student chapters at high schools and universities in the US fund raise to provide scholarships to Liberian students. Since our founding in 2007, over 200 students in the U.S. have raised over $36,000 for LEF.

Liberia, a small country in West Africa, was devastated by a 14 year civil war that ended in 2003. Today Liberia faces many challenges, one of which is an inadequate public education system. While public schools do exist, they are underfunded and overcrowded. Private schools offer a better education, however they charge tuition fees that most Liberians cannot afford.

The Camden Hills Regional High School chapter currently supports the educational needs of five high school students and one university student in Liberia. The chapter is planning to increase these numbers this coming school year. With only nine current members, the CHRHS chapter invites you to become a member of the club this fall and to keep an eye out for their upcoming fundraisers and events.

“Liberian Education Fund is an incredible way to get involved and have a direct impact on the lives of students in Liberia. All of our members have a passion for giving kids just like us across the world the same opportunity for education that we have.” - Harper Gordon, President, CHRHS chapter of LEF
