Camden Hills girls soccer claims regional championship

ROCKPORT — The Camden Hills girls soccer team took to the soccer pitch in Rockport Wednesday, Nov. 1 for the heavily anticipated Class A North regional championship. 

The top-seeded Lady Windjammers, the defending state champions, hosted the third-seeded Bangor Lady Rams.

Last season, the Lady Windjammers bested Bangor in the regional title game, in Bangor, 3-2 before besting Gorham 1-0 in the Class A state championship. 

This season, with the game held in Rockport, the Lady Windjammers collected a 3-1 victory to advance to the Saturday, Nov. 4 Class A state championship to be held at Deering High School with a 12:30 p.m. start.

In the state title contest, the Lady Windjammers will be challenged by top-seeded Scarborough, the Class A South regional champion. 

Kristina Kelly, Eliza Roy and Lexi Heidorn netted the three Lady Windjammer goals. 

The game was knotted 1-1 at the halftime break thanks to Kelly netting an early first half goal to give Camden Hills a 1-0 advantage.
