WARREN — Brenda L. Marr, 68 of Warren, passed away March 25, 2015, at Winward Gardens in Camden. Born June 5, 1946, in Bristol, she was the daughter of Frank and Yolanda (Poland) Elwell.

Brenda grew up and attended schools on Louds Island until high school, when she moved to Rockland, where she attended school for two years. She would move again, and complete her final two years at Lincoln Academy, from which she graduated.

Upon graduation, she worked at Jordan's Market for several years, then went to Crowe Rope for many years until they closed. Most recently, she retired from Walmart in Rockland after 12 years of loyal service.

She loved going back to Louds Island, where she spent her childhood, visiting lighthouses throughout the state, going to lawn sales and when she was younger she loved going to dances. She also enjoyed country music, especially George Strait, and chatting with friends and family on Facebook; but more than anything, she loved spending time with family and friends. She had a great sense of humor, and touched the lives of many, including many "adopted" people who called her Mom.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Donna Gower; and her grandparents, Annie and Levi Elwell, and Viola and Alpheus Poland.

She is survived by her husband, Walter Marr Jr. of Warren; her brothers, Frank Elwell Jr. and his wife, Linda, of Waldoboro, and Robert Elwell and wife, Phyllis, of Damariscotta; her sister, Yvonne Smith and her significant other, Ken Williams, of Rockland; her loving children, Tiffany Gifford and her husband, Christian, of Warren, John Bailey II and his wife, Michele, of Lincolnville, Lynette Robinson and her husband, William, of Thomaston, Kristin Welton and her husband, John, of North Carolina, Darren Elwell and his significant other, Cheryl Perry, of Rockport, and Carmen Gerry and her husband, Scott, of Florida; her stepsons, Walter Marr III and his wife, Linda, of Rockland, and Russell Marr and his wife, Lisa, of Wiscasset; as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Friday, April 3 at 1 p.m. at Strong-Hancock Funeral Home, 612 Main St. in Damariscotta. A gathering at the Wells-Hussey American Legion Hall at 527 Main St. in Damariscotta will follow the service until 4 p.m.
