Belfast, Waldo County Babe Ruth teams announce tryouts

BELFAST and SEARSPORT — Both the Belfast and Waldo County Babe Ruth baseball teams will be holding tryouts for the 2015 season during the first weekend of May. Belfast tryouts will be held Saturday, May 2 at 10:30 a.m. at the Belfast Area High School field. Tryouts for Waldo County will take place Sunday, May 3 at 1 p.m. at the Searsport High School field.

To tryout for either team, players must be age 13, 14, or 15 by May 1, 2015 and must live one of the towns each team accepts players from. 

The Belfast squad takes players from Belfast, Belmont, Morrill, Northport, Searsmont and Swanville. Meanwhile, the Waldo County team accepts players from Frankfort, Searsport, Stockton Springs, Winterport and the towns that consist of RSU 3 (Mount View High School). 

Both teams compete in the Midcoast Babe Ruth League. The 10-game season runs from May 17 to July 1 followed by playoffs through July 14.

Players should bring a glove and a copy of their birth certificates to their tryout.
