BELFAST — Belfast Maskers will hold open auditions for its first play of the 2024 season, "Proof" by David Auburn. There are two opportunities to audition at the Basil Burwell Community Theater, 17 Court Street, in Belfast; the first will be on Saturday, December 9, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., and the second will be on Wednesday, December 13, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Stephanie Natale will cast and direct the production.

"A play about math and madness, 'Proof' is a meaty script about the depths of human experience in the darkest areas of the brain — and the lightest areas of the heart," said Natale, in a news release. "Be prepared to dig deep so we can represent this stellar work by David Auburn with authenticity as he deals with love, death, and hope."

Performances of "Proof" will run at the Belfast Maskers' theater on Court Street six times from March 8 through the 17th.

"We are looking for dedicated character actors with strong memorization skills,” said the release. “They must be available for a read through before the Winter holidays, and then be prepared for a short, intensive rehearsal process beginning in the middle of February."

Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. All four roles are available: Robert (age 50-60), Catherine (age 25), Claire (age 29), and Hal (age 28.)

If you have any questions, feel free to email director Stephanie Natale at jdtsteph@gmail.com.
