On Tuesday August 15, at 6:30 p.m. at the Belfast Free Library join author Jennifer Wixson for a sneak peak of Maggie’s Dilemma, book 5 in her Sovereign Series.

Maine farmer, author and itinerant Quaker minister Jennifer Wixson is the creator of the Sovereign Series, a collection of novels set in the mythical small town of Sovereign, Maine, that highlight a rural, agricultural-based lifestyle. Sovereign is noted for quirky and good-hearted characters who weave through the books like good friends dropping in for a cup of tea.

The first book in the series, Hens and Chickens, (White Wave, Aug. 2012) follows the journey of two female friends downsized by corporate America who move to Maine to raise chickens and sell organic eggs, and discover more that they bargain for — including love.

Book 2, Peas, Beans & Corn (White Wave, June 2013), describes the adventures of a National Guard veteran who returns home from the war in Afghanistan with the secret dream of restarting the town's old sweet corn canning factory and of the young woman who helps restart his tired heart.

In Book 3, The Songbird of Sovereign (White Wave, July 2014), readers learn the story of Miss Hastings, one of the series most popular characters.

Book 4, The Minister's Daughter (White Wave, Sept.2015), follows the return of Maggie's daughter, Nellie to Sovereign to search for her father and ultimately rekindles a lost love.

Book five, Maggie's Dilemma, will be release in the fall of 2017. Two years after the death of her husband, Maggie the minister in the little town of Sovereign, Maine, is swept off her feet by nationally-known environmental activist David Faulkner, the uncle of a young friend, who has come to teach at Unity College.

Maggie's world seems whole again, and almost perfect, that is, until Duncan Faulkner, the young friend's father and David's brother, shows up in Sovereign. An Episcopal priest, Duncan has much more in common with Maggie and she soon discovers she might have become engaged to the wrong man! Funny, poignant, and soul-searching, Maggie's Dilemma reveals that love -- and life -- sometimes don't get any easier in your seventh decade!

Jennifer Wixson writes from her home in Troy where she and her husband, affectionately known as the Cranberry Man, raise Scottish Highland cattle, keep bees, and grow cranberries.
