April events at Camden Public Library: Kosti Rouhomaa photos, technology tutoring, book groups and lectures

    The April calendar of the Camden Public Library includes:
     
    Monday, April 2, 3:30 p.m.: Tax Readiness for The Self Employed. New Ventures Maine hosts this free workshop at the Camden Public Library for small business owners. Call 386 -1664 to register. 
     
    Tuesday, April 3, 7 p.m.: Kosti Comes Home. Gallery Opening Reception with Penobscot Marine Museum.  Biographer Deanna Bonner-Ganter will speak  at the Camden Public Library about renowned photographer Kosti Rouhomaa. Rouhomaa’s photographs will be on display for the month of April. 
     
    Wednesday, April 4, 10 a.m.: Midcoast Stroke Support Group at the Camden Public Library. New members welcome, group meets every first Wednesday in the History Center.
     
    Thursday, April 5, 7 p.m.: Coffeehouse Concert at the Camden Public Library with Stephen Sanfilippo $10 at the door. “A Gleam off Paradise” - Songs & Stories of the Sea.
     
    Friday, April 6, 11 a.m.: Grown Up Story Hour at the Camden Public Library. We never outgrow the pleasure of hearing a story read aloud. Join us each Friday in the comfortable teen seating area. A rotating cast of volunteer readers choose a diverse collection of stories.
     
    Friday, April 6, 4 p.m.: Camden Chess Club at the Camden Public Library. Players of all ages and experience levels are welcomed to this new club. Players will learn new techniques and practice in real gameplay. Every Friday.
     
    Saturday, April 7, 2 p.m.: Poetry Reading - Betsy Headley. Local poet Headley will read at the Camden Public Library from her new book Something is Always Left in celebration of National Poetry Month.
     
    Sunday, April 8, 1 p.m.: Cyber Sunday by Appointment. Technology Coordinator Olga Zimmerman holds one-on-one appointments to answer all your technology questions. Sign up on the library website. 
     
    Tuesday, April 10, 1 p.m. : Leer y charlar. Spanish conversation group at the Camden Public Library. Fluent speakers welcome!
     
    Tuesday, April 10, 1 p.m.: Tuesday Book Club at the Camden Public Library. The book for this month is A Gentleman in Moscow by Amor Towles. New members welcome.
     
    Tuesday, April 10, 7 p.m.: Captain Jen Haddock on SEA Education at the Camden Public Library.  Captain Haddock has traveled the world teaching and managing SEA Education programs. She will share stories from her travels and explain the concept of SEA education.
     
    Thursday, April 12, 2 p.m.: Mini Concert with Gus La Casse and Peter Lindquist at the Camden Public Library.  Traditional Irish and Acadian tunes on fiddle and guitar. If the weather is nice, the concert will take place in the Amphitheatre.
     
    Thursday, April 12, 7 p.m.: The Real Moby Dick - The Wreck of the Essex. Local author K.F. Griffin will speak at the Camden Public Library about her new book The Wreck of the Essex which explores Herman Melville’s fascination with the Essex tragedy. 
     
    Sunday, April 15, 2 p.m.: Winter History Series at the Camden Public Library - Dr. Al Bennett on Cyrus Curtis and the Yacht Lyndonia. Dr. Bennett will display highlights from the book The Lyndonia Collection about the lavish and famous yacht.  Winter History Series co-hosted by the Camden-Rockport Historical   Society. 
     
    Tuesday, April 17, 4 p.m.: Philosophical Society at the Camden Public Library . A lively discussion group! Meetings take place on third Tuesdays.  Topics and readings will be posted on the library website events calendar. New members welcome.
