The Midcoast sports scene was busy with several sporting events on Friday, April 28.

Below are the scores and stats for those contests that were reported to our sports department.

Varsity Baseball: Maranacook 8, Oceanside 5

The Oceanside Mariners (3-1) suffered its first loss of the season in a game against Maranacook, who picked up its first victory of the season to improve to 1-2. 

On the mound for Oceanside: Michael Dougherty (4+ innings, four runs, four earned runs, six hits, one strikeout, three walks), Ben Ripley (four runs, four earned runs, two hits, two walks, one hit-by-pitch) and Uriah Thongsphaphone (two innings, one hit, one hit-by-pitch). 

On the mound for Maranacook: Chris Florek (six innings, five runs, four earned runs, seven hits, two strikeouts, one hit-by-pitch) and John Lauter. 

At the plate for Oceanside: Logan Sheridan (single, double), Coby Dorr (two singles) and Michael Norton Jr. (double). 

At the plate for Maranacook: Florek (two doubles, two RBIs) and Max McQuillen (two singles).

Varsity Girls Tennis: Oceanside 3, Belfast 2

1st Doubles: Alexia Sweet (BEL) over Emma Lee and Meredith Mitchell (OS) 8-6
2nd Doubles: Jasmine Bouchard and Amelia Campbell (OS) over Olivia LaRocuhe and Eliot Ripley (BEL) 8-2

7th Grade Baseball: Bristol 7, Medomak 2 (April 27)

The Medomak Middle School seventh grade baseball team traveled to Bristol Thursday night where they lost 7-2. The Riverhawks out hit their opponent 3-2 but were undone by six errors and good Blue Devil defense. Hitting for MMS were Brady Carter, Zack Benner and Ryan Jarvis, who each had a single.
