Allagash Wilderness Waterway resident artist from Searsport to exhibit in June

On March 6, 2024, Peter Yesis, a Maine fine artist based in Searsport, addressed a meeting of the Maine Outdoor Adventure Club, in Portland, regarding his experience as the 2023 Allagash Wilderness Waterway (AWW) Artist-in-Residence.

Yesis’ presentation, “Taking Home the Allagash in Art”, focused on the challenges particular to an artist in the wilderness, the many means he used to collect reference material in that environment and the artists’ tradition of memorializing the wilderness in paint.

On display were two oil paintings that will be part of Yesis’ AWW painting exhibit, scheduled to open on Saturday, June 29, 2024, at 4 p.m., at Yarmouth Frame and Gallery, and run through September.

Yesis specializes in painting Maine land and seascapes in oil in a soft, realistic style. His work can be viewed at www.peteryesisart.com.
