Alison McKellar launches write-in campaign for Camden Personnel Board

No one is running for the open seat on the Camden Personnel Board, which surprises me because I heard several references to this board come up while serving on the Budget Committee this year.

As we were deliberating about raises for town employees, we would propose things or ask questions and a frequent response was: "Well that's not within the purview of the budget committee. Can't change that. It's a personnel board issue."

Most of these policies seem reasonable enough and seem to have served us well. Our community has benefited enormously from the continuity and experience of so many of the people working for the town of Camden, and I would like to help maintain this legacy as well as see if there are things we can do better.

I think my experience on town committees such as the Budget Committee, the Windjammer Festival Committee, and the Conservation Commission, as well as my experience working with many of the town employees on various projects, has prepared me well to be a fair and informed representative.

I have no activist agenda. I love our town and the people who work for us, and would like the opportunity to make sure we are doing what we can to attract and retain the very best people we can, while also keeping costs under control for taxpayers.

Please consider writing me in June 14 for the open seat.
