Align & Shine: Comprehensive, holistic exercise

Thu, 03/02/2017 - 3:30pm

Align and Shine, a new exercise class, is now offered in Camden and Belfast. This class emphasizes deep core work and includes cardio, strengthening, and mindfulness.

Lisa Lyons, of Rockland, is an enthusiastic class participant.

"For 20 years, I've had shoulder pain that would often trigger tension headaches,” she said, in a news release. “I haven't had a single headache since I started taking Align & Shine. My shoulders feel so much better."

Joyce Dodge, of Belfast, is also happy with class results.

"My hip had been hurting for months, and it was getting worse,’ she said. “After my first Align and Shine class, the pain went away and hasn't come back."

In addition to overall strength work and cardio, each class includes exercises for joint care, improving balance, and increasing range of motion. Appropriate for all fitness levels, the only prerequisite is ability to lie on the floor for at least 15 minutes.

Align & Shine was developed by Mirja Pitkin, a personal trainer and dynamic anatomy expert.

Mondays, 10:15 – 11:30 a.m., High Mountain Hall, 5 Mountain Street, Camden.
