Today, February 27, is the Belfast Co-op's monthly 'Love LOCAL Day', celebrating Maine's bounty.  Claire and Carly Weinberg of Dulse & Rugosa (Gotts Island) will provide free samples of their natural bath and skincare products between 11am and 3pm, which will be discounted 10% all day.

The Love LOCAL Day lunch special highlights local ingredients: Baked Gold Nugget squash (North Branch Farm, Monroe) with wheat berry (Fiddler's Green Farm, North Vassalboro) stuffing, and mixed greens with cranberry vinaigrette; $7.95.

Over the past year, Co-op customers purchased nearly $2 million in local (Maine-grown, raised, harvested and produced) products.  The Co-op stocks over 2,200 Maine-made products.
