Space is still available for Summer Camp at Riley

July 24th - July 28th: Treehouse Building and Nature Art

During the week July 24-28th, campers will have the special opportunity to spend the glorious summer weather constructing their own tree house with Michael Bunker of Heritage Timber Wrights. Michael grew up building houses & camps with his father and grandfather in rural Maine. He will be sharing his experience of working with hand tools and raw materials with the children. Including choosing the perfect tree, finding the best wood to build with, and developing skills with a variety of hand tools. We are excited to be able to offer a carpentry class that emphasizes hand tool skill development on a project that will nurture a love for the outdoors. Students will be encouraged to think outside the box as they navigate building a treehouse. Our hope is that everyone will have fun and embrace their creative energy. If campers have basic carpentry tools of their own they are encouraged to bring them (hand saws, hammer, tape measure, etc).

This camp week will also provide time to explore the gardens, woods, and greenhouse for planting, drawing, and nature art.

Summer Camp at Riley provides exciting experiential learning opportunities while celebrating the relaxing flow of summer. One-week sessions include nature exploration and garden play combined with artistic endeavors in pottery, collage, and tree-house creation. The camps are designed towards ages 6-14. All summer program facilitators are practicing professionals in their field, with experience and passion for sharing their knowledge while supporting children in exploring the world and their unique role in it.
