The Study Hall welcomes Karen Vellekamp to their staff. Karen earned a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from Keene State College and a Master of Science in Mathematics from the University of New Hampshire and has been involved in math education for over 25 years.  She is experienced in teaching and tutoring all levels of math from Developmental Math through Calculus. She has served as a math teacher at Fryeburg Academy and the Math Department Chair at Kents Hill School.  She ran her own tutoring service in the Fryeburg and Bridgton areas.  Most recently Karen has been teaching online at the college level at various institutions such as DeVry University, Tiffin University, American Public University and Georgia Military College.

Karen misses the challenges and rewards of helping younger students learn and enjoy mathematics and therefore she is excited to return to tutoring school aged math students at The Study Hall. She says, “I love to solve problems, and to develop procedures and protocols while doing so.  My ability to consider a problem from many different perspectives has enabled me to successfully share the joys of mathematics with many students over the years.  When working with students I strive to be patient, kind, and respectful of their needs, while encouraging student self-direction and responsibility.”

Karen has availability in her schedule to meet with clients this summer and into the fall school year. Please call or email The Study Hall at 236-3949 or rockport@thestudyhall.com to set up an appointment today.
