Join climate change activists for a public rally today at noon at Sandy Beach in Rockland. The rally, organized by the Natural Resources Council of Maine (NRCM), will show support for the EPA’s proposed Clean Power Plan, which would slash greenhouse gas emissions from U.S. power plants.

Power plants are the largest source of carbon pollution in the U.S., accounting for roughly one-third of all domestic greenhouse gas emissions. Nationwide, the Clean Power Plan will help cut carbon pollution from the power sector by 30 percent below 2005 levels. The Plan is due to be finalized in August, but it could face serious opposition in Washington. Today’s rally is both a celebration of this historic plan – the largest action the U.S. has ever proposed to combat climate change – and a demonstration Maine’s Congressional delegation that Mainers support climate action and want them to support the Clean Power Plan.

The rally is at Sandy Beach in Rockland, at the intersection of Ocean and Mcloud streets, from noon to 1 p.m. Evergreen Home Performance will be there - will you?
