Candle Dipping and More at Ashwood Waldorf School!

Candlemas

If Candlemas Day be fair and bright

Winter will take another flight.

If Candlemas Day be cloud and rain

Winter is gone and will not come again.

February 2 is Groundhog Day, and also Candlemas in ancient traditions. Both festivals mark the first stirrings of spring in the cycle of the year. February 2 is halfway between the winter solstice and the spring equinox, the time when dark days wane and the light grows stronger. Candlemas takes its name from a time when every household made their own candles for daily use. WE WILL CELEBRATE ON FEBRUARY 3.
